Recorded description

Let Y be a family of rational-valued random variables on a finite index range [0, n) with a distribution p, four-wise uncorrelated below m, each of the first m centred with fourth moment at most M4 and second moment at most s2, and let a be a positive rational. Then a^4 times the expectation of the indicator of the event that the fourth power of the deviation of the sum from its mean is at least a^4 is bounded by m*M4 + 3*(m*s2)^2. Dividing through -- which the statement deliberately does not do, so that no Rat.inv is introduced -- this reads P(|S - E S| >= a) <= (m*M4 + 3*m^2*s2^2)/a^4, and at the sample-mean deviation a = m*eps it decays like 1/m^2 in the sample size, against the 1/m that Chebyshev gives on the same shelf. That is the first Hoeffding-class rate this carrier reaches. It is NOT Hoeffding: an exponential tail needs the product rule for expectations over a joint law and the functional equation of the exponential, and this development has neither a product space nor expFn_add.

Evidence

kernel-axiom-free

Kind
kernel-term
Status
checked

Supports: The declaration is admitted by the trusted kernel gate with an empty Kernel::axiom_footprint, together with every other ADR-1653 declaration. The test asserts Environment::contains FIRST, because an absent name has an empty footprint too.

Checker command
cargo test --release -p axeyum-lean-kernel --lib rat_prelude::fourth_moment::fourth_moment_tests::fourth_moment_declarations_are_axiom_free -- --exact 2>&1 | grep -c '^test result: ok. 1 passed'
Evidence notes

grep -c, not grep -q: -q would SIGPIPE the producer under pipefail, and -c exits 1 printing 0 when the line is absent, so a suite that compiled to zero tests and exited 0 is caught rather than counted as a pass. --release is mandatory: the rational prelude SIGABRTs on the default debug thread stack.

threshold-is-a-fourth-not-a-squared

Kind
kernel-term
Status
checked

Supports: The declared type is compared against the statement at threshold a^4 and against the same statement at threshold a^2; the first must be definitionally equal and the second must not. The fourth power of the threshold is where the 1/m^2 comes from, so a test blind to the difference would not distinguish this bound from Chebyshev's shape carrying a fourth-moment right-hand side, which is a different and unproved claim.
